Her family operated the Jackson Koehler Eagle Brewery established in 1847 in Erie Pennsylvania where her grandfather John Martin Magenau Jr. served as President and CEO from 1847 until the brewery's closure in 1978. Jacobs started studying acting at the age of 8 and attended acting classes on Saturdays at the Pittsburgh Playhouse while growing up.She was a part of The Pittsburgh Public Theater where she always competed for the Public's Shakespeare Monologue Contest leading her to be cast as Titania in the stage production A Midsummer Night's Dream. Mt. Jacobs and leaving Lebanon High School for New York City, in 2000. There she became part of Group 33, the Drama Division of Group 33. In 2004 she received a bachelor degree.
